No Canadian act has sold more copies of a single album released this century than Lavigne's debut, 2002's "Let Go," a breakthrough largely driven by the triple-platinum success of "Complicated" and two other Top 10 smashes, "Sk8er Boi" and "I'm With You." The eclectic jazz singer is playing the Musical Instrument Museum in support of "Mélusine," a Grammy-nominated concept album sung primarily in French and based on the folkloric tale of Melusine, a woman whose lower body transforms into a snake on Saturdays. It's a breathtaking affair that offsets five originals with songs that range from the 12th century to covers of songs by Kate Bush, Gregory Porter and Sting.

The Lilith Tour founder is bringing the Fumbling Towards Ecstasy 30th Anniversary Tour to Phoenix with special guest Feist. In a news release, McLachlan said, “I think it’s interesting as an artist or as a human for that matter, to be able to go back and look at a postcard of a time in your life and reflect on it. I think this tour is going to be a real walk down memory lane for me, and I’m hoping that my audience, many of whom have been with me for 30 years, will also be able to go back in time with me.”

Mother Mother and Cavetown
Canada’s biggest alt-rock export Mother Mother and multiplatinum singer-songwriter/producer Cavetown will launch their co-headlining tour in Phoenix with Destroy Boys. Mother Mother went viral on TikTok in late 2020, causing a surge in streaming. Flood Magazine hailed their latest album, "Grief Chapter," as "a powerful meditation on the real nature of death" that shows they haven't "settled into anything even remotely routine."

The Massachusetts rapper hit the mainstream in 2017 with the Grammy-nominated viral video to the hard-hitting song "I'm Not Racist." The Source celebrated the album as "a sonic journey highlighting Joyner’s masterful storytelling prowess set against captivating beats," noting that tracks like “Three Little Pigs” delve deep into societal issues.

The country singer is celebrating the fifth anniversary of her album “Girl” on an RSVP Redux Tour that promises a different set list each night curated by fans. "Girl" sent two songs to the top of Billboard's country airplay chart — the title track and "The Bones" — and took home Album of the Year at the Country Music Association Awards. Variety said the album "exists in the post-Spotify world where kids don’t look at genre classifications, and where, among the adults, women innately seem a hell of a lot less hung up on boundaries than the men are."

These Phoenix-spawned death-metal standard-bearers are celebrating 10 years of making the bleeding eardrums of America safe for something they've been known to call Sonoran Desert Death Metal. They're also celebrating the release of yet another chapter in their brutal history, "Dark Superstition." It's their first album since signing to Nuclear Blast, an iconic German label known for specializing in the heavy side of metal. In announcing the album's release, the label proclaimed, "The new wave of American death metal needs a breakout album and 'Dark Superstition' is it." They're joined by Full of Hell, Undeath, Jarhead Fertilizer, Final Gasp, Nuclear Remains, Yellowcake, Blood Loss, Jock Club, Dave Parley and Snupac.

The Canadian superstar is set to launch the Triple Moon Tour with an outdoor show with special guests Joan Jett and the Blackhearts and support from Morgan Wade. In a press release, Morissette said, “I am inspired and heartened and feel giddy inside to be going on this upcoming summer tour with Joan and Morgan and all our teams.” This is the seven-time Grammy winner's first Phoenix concert since 2021, when a tour celebrating the 25th anniversary of her breakthrough album, "Jagged Little Pill," played that same venue.

Vampire Weekend
The New York rockers are touring the States in support of "Only God Was Above Us," an album Sputnikmusic says "marks the absolute zenith of Vampire Weekend’s career," is "a magnum opus by every possible angle of inspection'' that's "utterly brilliant" and "ten songs, no skips," for those of you who measure albums by how many songs you feel the urge to skip. Variety's reviewer also found it an "essential chapter in the band’s still-evolving sound and career." And those of you who might prefer to hear them do the songs that made you love them in the first place? Recent sets have featured four songs from their classic first release and three to four song from this critic's personal favorite, "Modern Vampires in the City."

James McMurtry
The son of Pulitzer Prize-winning novelist Larry McMurtry arrives in support of 2021's acclaimed "The Horses and the Hounds," a masterstroke of richly detailed storytelling that offsets pointed social commentary with glimpses of humor. On “Ft. Walton Wake-Up Call,”he wonders, "How are they gonna build a wall with no Mexicans anyway?" On "Operation Nevermind," he serves up a withering view of U.S. interventionism. "We won't let the cameras near the fighting," he sings. "That way, we won't have another Vietnam." Uncut magazine said McMurtry "lifts storytelling-in-song to meticulous new levels" on this album, which seems about right.

Caifanes and Cafe Tacvba
The Mexican legends are on their first joint U.S. tour, which promises an unforgettable experience as the two groups come together to celebrate their legacies and showcase the power of Mexican rock. Both bands originated in the late ‘80s in Mexico City. Despite their distinct musical styles, this tour is a testament to the enduring power of music, showcasing how these bands have evolved and continue to resonate.

Tedeschi Trucks Band
Susan Tedeschi had already earned five Grammy nominations by the time she and her husband, slide guitarist Derek Trucks, joined forces, bringing home a best blues album Grammy for their first joint effort, "Revelator." That one felt a bit like Derek and the Dominoes as fronted by a woman, blending blues and soul with occasional hints of a '70s soft-rock vibe. Thirteen years later, the blues-rock collective isstill going strong, a must-see live attraction with a growing catalog of classic songs.

Kamasi Washington
The visionary saxophonist has appeared on classic albums by Kendrick Lamar, Flying Lotus, Thundercat and Run the Jewels while earning accolades and a devoted following for his own music, including this year's aptly titled "Fearless Movement," a sprawling masterstroke of modern jazz that Washington has called his "dance" album. But lest you think that means he's gone all EDM on us, as Washington explained in announcing the album, "Dance is movement and expression, and in a way it’s the same thing as music — expressing your spirit through your body."

Camera Obscura
The Scottish indie-pop legends are touring the States in support of their first album in 11 years, "Look to the East, Look to the West." And if you've heard the album, then you know how good it is to hear from them again. They took a brief hiatus from 2015 to 2018 after keyboard player Carey Lander, a founding member, died of cancer. "Look to the East, Look to the West" is haunted by that loss, especially on "Almond Eyes," a tribute to Lander with lead singer Tracyanne Campbell singing, "I liked who we were together/ I'm not sure who I'll be apart / I will love you forever and ever / You didn't take much, you never got to start."

Echo & the Bunnymen
They emerged from Liverpool in 1980 with a debut titled "Crocodiles" that placed them squarely at the forefront of the neo-psychedelic movement. Rolling Stone responded with a four-star rave that said, "Ian McCulloch specializes in a sort of apocalyptic brooding, combining Jim Morrison-style psychosexual yells, a flair for David Bowie-like vocal inflections and the nihilistic bark of his punk peers into a disturbing portrait of the singer as a young neurotic." As impressive as their latest album was, it's been six years now and they're on a tour named for their classic greatest-hits collection, "Songs to Learn & Sing," so you can probably expect to hear a bunch of stuff you know.

Old Crow Medicine Show
The Grammy-winning roots revivalists who gave the world "Wagon Wheel" are now in their 26th year of not so much preserving as revitalizing old-time American music, from Appalachian folk to reckless rock 'n' roll. This should be a hootenanny to remember featuring their most beloved songs and highlights of their latest effort, "Jubilee," which Uncut praised for having managed "the deft balance of embracing tradition without lapsing into curatorial piousness or zany pastiche." To which it may be fair to add I could swear I remember some zany pastiche in the mix.

Metal for Paul: A Benefit For Paul Benson
Metal for Paul is a benefit concert for Paul Benson, the singer for Unholy Monarch who owned and ran Club Red, a metal stomping ground, for many years, to help with medical expenses. Benson had a heart attack in November and was in the hospital until April. The benefit show is an all-ages gathering of the metal tribes with Saintbreaker, the Exiled Martyr, Shores Of Ithaka, Ass Wipe Junkies, the Accident Theory, Invirulant and Gasping.

The hard-rock veterans rose to fame in the hair-metal boom of the ‘80s, hitting No. 10 on Billboard’s Hot 100 with the million-selling power ballad “Love Song” and following through in 1991 with a cover of Five Man Electrical Band’s “Signs,” which peaked at No. 8. Their second album, 1989’s “The Great Radio Controversy,” was certified double-platinum, largely fueled by the success of “Love Song” and heavy rotation on MTV’s "Headbangers’ Ball."

Recorded in a single day around a single microphone inside a church, "The Trinity Session" was the kind of record friends told friends they had to hear because you'd hate to think a friend was missing out on such a disarmingly intimate spin on classic country music. A haunting sleepwalk through the Velvet Underground's "Sweet Jane" was the standout most likely to make that friend say, "I need to own thisrecord now or preferably sooner."And last year's positively brilliant "Such Ferocious Beauty" effortlessly lived up to their mesmerizing legacy.

The Hot Girl Summer Tour with special guest GloRilla is the Houston rapper's first headlining tour of arenas. In February, “Hiss” debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot 100, Megan's third release to top that chart, following the eight-times-platinum Cardi B collaboration "WAP" and "Savage." "Hiss" is also the first solo female rap song to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard Global 200 and holds the record for the biggest first week for a solo female rap song in history.

Rundgren is, in many ways, the quintessential rock ‘n’ roll enigma, a restless spirit who’s been following his own lead from the start. Fuerza Regida
The regional Mexican music sensations from San Bernardino, California, had to add a second night to meet demand for tickets to their 2024 Pero No Te Enamores Tour at Footprint Center. Fronted by Jesús Ortiz Paz, Fuerza Regida rose to fame in early 2023 with the release of "Bebe Dame" a hit collaboration with Grupo Frontera that topped the U.S. Latin charts and peaked at No. 25 on Billboard's Hot 100. Other U.S. hits include "TQM," "Sabor Fresa" and the Marshmello collaboration "Harley Quinn."

Drive-By Truckers
It's been 23 years since Drive-By Truckers grabbed the mainstream rock press by the collar with "Southern Rock Opera," a two-record triumph that tackled the myths and more elusive truths of what it means to be a Southern man. And in those intervening years, despite a string of lineup changes, they've emerged as one of rock and roll's more dependable standard bearers. What concerns us here, though, is that awe-inspired breakthrough they'll be dusting off in its entirety when the Southern Rock Opera Revisited Tour arrives in Phoenix. Amazing band, amazing album. What more could you possibly want from a night out in Phoenix?

Joe Jackson
The Two Rounds of Racket Tour is a concert in two parts: a solo set by Jackson performing his original material and a set based on the album "What A Racket!," the first performance in more than 100 years of the songs of forgotten English Music Hall genius Max Champion, with Jackson fronting a nine-piece band. Champion was born in 1882 in London's East End. His career cut short by World War I, his songs faded into obscurity until 2014, when his sheet music started to surface. By 2019, enough songs had been recovered for Jackson to resurrect them with a 12-piece orchestra.

The Trilogy Tour is said to be the "Dollhouse" singer's most ambitious tour to date, featuring selections from all three of the alt-pop sensation’s hit albums — “Cry Baby,” “K-12” and “Portals,” which have collectively amassed more than 14 billion streams worldwide. Martinez will be joined by special guestsBeach Bunny and Sofia Isella. A review of her previous tour at Shutter 16 magazine said "the prosthetics, makeup and costuming were simply out of this world," mesmerizing fans who were "completely into every subtle move and nuance coming from the stage."

These Brooklyn indie-rockers work the dream-pop side of '80s post-punk like a charm while emphasizing, as the AV Club said of the first release, "a charmingly low-budget kind of grandeur, like Ride’s 'Nowhere'reconstructed via laptop." And they haven't strayed far from that formula as they've matured, resulting in the hazy brilliance of their latest effort. This year's "Frog in Boiling Water" is a perfect mix of heavily distorted shoegazing intensity and shimmering ballads as ethereal as "Raining on Your Pillow" and the mesmerizing title track.

The Doobie Brothers
These four-time Grammy winners and Rock & Roll Hall of Famers are on the road with fellow Grammy winner Robert Cray. This tour follows the Doobie Brothers 50th Anniversary Tour, which put Tom Johnston, Michael McDonald, Pat Simmons and John McFee back on the road together for the first time in more than 25 years. The Doobie Brothers' greatest hits include two very different types of songs that topped the Billboard Hot 100, "Black Water" and "What a Fool Believes."

This is the first Relentless Beats event at Rawhide Western Town since 2021. This Indian musical trio consisting of Shankar Mahadevan, Ehsaan Noorani and Loy Mendonsa has composed music for more than 50 movie soundtracks in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Marathi and English, winning numerous awards. Their best-known compositions include "Dil Chahta Hai," "Kal Ho Naa Ho" and "Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna."

Memories of Her's
Stephen Fitzpatrick and Audun Laading of Liverpool indie-rockers Her's were killed in a car accident on Interstate 10 west of Phoenix in 2019 that also claimed the life of their tour manager Trevor Engelbrektson as they drove to their next gig after playing the Rebel Lounge. Five years later, the Phoenix club will host a tribute concert in their memory with musicians from local bands Viridian, Grupo Bombazo, Pleasure Cult, TV Messages and Halloday performing songs from "Invitation to Her’s" and "Songs of Her’s." The event was organized by local musician Ross Morris.
